PTF and ZPTF control controller for Ford Escape/Focus/C-Max

The main purpose of creating this device was the lack of a regular ability to control the rear fog lights in American cars, in particular Ford Escape / Focus / C-Max. In the process of its creation, some additional functions were incorporated..

So what will be needed to eliminate this shortcoming, and over time, even the requirements necessary for passing MOT:

  • light control unit with PTF and ZPTF buttons (you can even use a corrector);
  • PTF and ZPTF control controller Fog light control;
  • rear and front PTF;
  • wiring from front and rear PTF to controller (до BCM)

The initial conditions will be the fact that the wiring in the bumper for the front and rear PTFs has already been routed to the BCM block. Therefore, I will not describe what is needed for this and the whole process..

To connect you need to get to the BCM block, and to do this we remove the glove compartment, which in the restyle can only be removed after removing the side trim of the center console. It’s easier on dorestayle.

Figured out the location of the controller

Connection:
— Can rail + and -;
- GND - ground;
— +12V — power supply for front PTFs
— Left — output to the front left PTF;
— Right — output to the front right PTF;
— +12V — power supply for rear PTFs;

— Rear — output to rear PTF.

Outputs for left and right front PTF in S configuration (where there was no PTF) connect directly to the PTF. In case of connection on SE trim levels (or others. where the front PTFs were already) outputs from BCM to PTF must be disabled (C2280D pin 18 and 19) and connect bypassing the BCM directly to the PTF controller.

Front PTF diagram

To power the controller circuit you need to connect two pluses (It is possible to power the rear and front PTFs from one fuse, but increase the fuse rating to 15A), that appear when the ignition is turned on, These are F85 fuses, F86 and F87, although the standard PTF power supply is from fuse F75.

Includes one fuse adapter, we use it to connect in place of F86.

The last step is to make changes to the central BCM configuration and activate the PTF.

At the same time, the standard control from the buttons on the light unit is retained:
— when you press the button, the front PTFs are turned on;
— when you press the button, the rear PTFs are turned on;
— bending PTF, when the low beam is on and up to a speed of 30 km/h, when turning a corner to a certain angle, one PTF on the same side turns on, inversion when engaging reverse gear, goes out smoothly when the steering wheel is level.

Angle at which turning PTFs are triggered

Upon request, you can improve the default firmware version and add:

  • DRL activation only when the automatic transmission selector is not in the PARKING position
  • activate the dimensions mode using PTF lamps in 20% brightness.

    Good day. Is it possible to order in Germany?? And will it fit the Ford Escape 2015 year? Do you also provide instructions for pulling the wiring to the front and rear PTFs?
